march 2025. i landed a full-time job β as a telephone operator, not a programmer. it didn't pay much, and it pulled me off the hardcore study train. the all-day notebooks, the wall of bootcamps and problem sites, the rhythm of the apprenticeship β that pace didn't survive a work week
the honest trade
i'm not going to dress it up. the job wasn't the career i'd been pointing at. but it was a job, steady and real, and it did something quiet: it stopped the frantic door-opening. the scatter of every path narrowed to the few i actually cared about. less scrambling, more picking up the pieces i liked and getting deeper
the learning never stopped
off the hardcore train is not the same as off the rails. i kept studying and learning the entire time β just at a pace a working life allows. the rust, the servers, the terminal tools, they didn't go away. they settled in, the way a skill does when it stops being a sprint and becomes a companion
that slower, steadier learning is what carried over the gap to the next thing. the grid work would come later, and it came to someone who'd never actually stopped building
δΈ is career. the job wasn't the destination i'd aimed at, but it taught me to keep the work going at a pace that lasts β and the learning went right on underneath it all
